Brick Veneer & Stone Cladding Installation in Toronto, ON

Full and thin brick veneer, natural stone cladding, and manufactured stone installation to transform any Toronto home exterior or feature wall. Licensed & insured masonry contractor serving Toronto and the GTA. Free estimates.

Brick veneer and stone cladding are among the most dramatic — and most cost-effective — ways to transform the exterior of a Toronto home. Rather than full-cavity brick construction, veneer systems attach directly to a prepared substrate using mortar, mechanical ties, and properly detailed flashing and drainage, delivering the authentic look and texture of solid masonry at a fraction of the cost and structural load. Elite Toronto Masonry installs full brick veneer, thin brick veneer, natural stone veneer, and manufactured stone cladding on residential exteriors, feature walls, fireplace surrounds, and entrance elements across Toronto and the GTA.

Signs You Need Brick Veneer & Stone Cladding in Toronto

Upgrading a Plain Concrete, Block, or Stucco Exterior

A plain concrete block foundation, poured concrete wall, or dated stucco facade can be completely transformed with a brick or stone veneer application. Veneer adds real material texture, curb appeal, and resale value without requiring structural changes to the building.

Matching Brick on a Home Addition

When adding a room, garage, or extension to an existing brick home, the new structure needs to match the original. Veneer systems allow precise material selection and sourcing to match the existing brick colour, size, and texture, so the addition reads as part of the original building.

Feature Walls, Columns, and Entrance Elements

A brick or stone veneer feature wall, entrance pillar, or porch surround adds lasting character and significantly improves first impressions. These smaller scope applications deliver outsized visual impact relative to their cost.

Our Brick Veneer & Stone Cladding Process in Toronto

01

Substrate Assessment & Waterproofing

The substrate must be structurally capable of supporting the veneer load, properly sealed against moisture ingress, and free of soft or delaminating material. We install a drainage barrier — typically a moisture-resistant building paper or drainage mat — over the prepared substrate, followed by galvanized or stainless lath mechanically fastened into the studs or masonry backing. This moisture management layer is the difference between a veneer installation that lasts decades and one that traps water and fails.

02

Material Selection & Dry Layout

Brick and stone selection happens at the consultation stage. We help you choose materials that complement your home's existing palette, perform in Toronto's freeze-thaw climate, and meet your budget. Before any permanent setting begins, we dry-lay a section to confirm pattern alignment, course spacing, and corner treatment. For random-pattern stone, this step is where the visual composition is designed.

03

Installation, Jointing & Sealing

Veneer units are set in a polymer-modified mortar matched to the selected system — typically Type S for brick veneer and a manufacturer-specified mortar for manufactured stone. Joints are grouted and tooled to the specified profile and colour. Once cured, the completed surface is cleaned and treated with a breathable penetrating silane-siloxane sealer to reduce water absorption without trapping vapour.

FAQ

Brick Veneer & Stone Cladding FAQs — Toronto Masonry Answers

What is the difference between full brick veneer and thin brick veneer?

Full brick veneer uses standard full-size brick — 90 mm thick — set with a 25–50 mm air space behind it, attached to the structural backing with metal ties. It looks identical to traditional solid brick construction from the exterior and provides better thermal mass and long-term durability. Thin brick veneer uses brick slices approximately 20–25 mm thick adhered directly to a prepared substrate. It's lighter, better suited for retrofitting onto existing structures, and works well for interior walls and sheltered exterior applications. For Toronto's freeze-thaw climate, full brick veneer is the preferred system for fully exposed exterior work.

Can brick or stone veneer be installed over an existing concrete block or poured concrete foundation?

Yes. Concrete block and poured concrete are excellent substrates for thin brick or stone veneer. The surface needs to be structurally sound, free of delaminating sections, and properly prepared for mechanical adhesion. We use polymer-modified mortars that bond directly to concrete without lath when the substrate preparation is correctly done. The result is a clean, durable cladding that protects the underlying masonry from direct freeze-thaw exposure.

How long does brick veneer installation take on a residential project?

A typical Toronto home front facade — roughly 50 to 80 square metres of veneer — takes four to seven working days, including substrate preparation, lath installation, and the veneer setting and grouting work. Smaller feature wall or entrance projects are often completed in one to two days. We'll provide a project-specific schedule at the estimate stage.
